This year WHS only fielded a girls team and competed against swimmers from Comal Davenport, La Grange, Comal Canyon Lake, and Hallettsville. Despite having no seniors on the team, the girls competed admirably, finishing second in the team standings and qualifying for regionals in seven individual slots and three relays. (Top-four finishers in each event at District qualify for regionals.)

On the Air with Gary Zupancic At the Hitchin’ Post

Gary Zupancic, the host of the KWVH program At the Hitchin’ Post, loves a good story. He’s so fond of shooting the breeze that he put an actual hitching post in his front yard so that visitors feel comfortable sitting on his porch and swapping a few tales. If visitors come up empty, Gary will supply a story or two of his own. He’s got a lot of them.

Calling all nonprofits
Calling all nonprofits

A 90-minute class designed for volunteers tasked with creating press releases for their non-profit organizations will be held February 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the EMS Classroom in Wimberley. The class is designed to get you up to speed in a hurry, no matter your background or skill level. It teaches the information basics — who, what, when, where, how much, and why — and the hierarchy of information that publicists employ to organize facts for the media. The class is taught by Teresa Kendrick, Managing Editor of the Wimberley View, and costs $20. The fee goes to the Civic Club’s Spring Events activities that raise funds for area non-profits and scholarships. The EMS classroom is located at 220 Twilight Trail. Class limit is 12 and the last day to register is February 14.
