Each Fall, the Wimberley Lions Club awards a significant amount of money from Market Days earnings to local non-profit organizations. The funding supports specific organizations’ activities that follow the Lion’s objectives and principles.
“This year was a banner year for the Wimberley Valley Community. On Tuesday, September 17, thirty- five non-profit organizations received grant awards,” said Ronnie Strain, First Vice President and Chair of the Lions Grant Committee.
“Our grants focus on organizations that serve local youth and improve the Wimberley region by meeting community needs through their volunteers,” he said.
The following grant recipients were: Amigos de Jesus, Barnabas Connection, Camp Community, Casa of Central Texas, Central Texas Theatre Academy, Cub Scouts Pack 127, Freedom Canines International, Friends of the Wimberley Village Library, Hays County Early Childhood Intervention, Hill Country Community Band, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly, Meals on Wheels Rural Capital Area, Mini Equine 2U, My Neighbor’s Keeper, Omega Leo Medical Explorers, PAWS Wimberley Trap, Neuter, Return Program , Pet Prevent a Litter - PALS, Schoolyard Dogs, Sea Scout Ship 1492, Starlight Symphony Orchestra, The Fig Tree Outreach Program, The Misty Carol Project, The Watershed Association, The Wimberley Players , Wimberley Adoption Group and Rescue, Wimberley Band Boosters, Wimberley Community Chorus, Wimberley Crisis Breadbasket, Wimberley EMS, Wimberley Good Neighbor, Wimberley Institute of Culture , Wimberley Special Olympics, Wimberley Valley Big Band, Wimberley Valley Radio, and Wimberley Valley Rangers.
Lions President Doug McLean said, “This year the Lions extended the grant application cycle to allow more time for organizations to finish the online application form. The next grant applications will be available in May 2025.”
