Coach Robert Klick’s Texan softball team has faced adversity as they made ready for district play.
The first few weeks of track season can be difficult for schools like Wimberley. For the most part, coaches from the athletic director to the newest junior high hire share the belief that students in the athletic program should be involved in as many sports as they desire. It also means that seasons overlap and some get a later start getting into “track shape,” getting work on their explosive starts and speed.
The end of each sport’s season provides an opportunity to celebrate the successes of that single season while looking forward to a playoff game or to reflect on the friendships and effort together. The last home game is different altogether. Family, friends and fans gather — not just to cheer on the team for its last home game — but to recognize the senior players and their parents — for their effort and commitment to their teams and their support of the players and the program.
Wimberley High School Texan baseball rolled into a busy stretch last Tuesday, March 7 with the district opener at Davenport High School. The game began a week that would conclude with the Texan Classic tournament on Texan Field the afternoon of Saturday, March 11.
Wimberley Texan Baseball started maneuvering their way through scrimmages, a “Battle of the 12” game versus Dripping Springs in support of the WillPower Community Foundation and a couple of tournaments in preparation for their district season that began March 7 against Davenport High School.
Pickleball culture has come to Wimberley, and Wimbo Pickles has come to facilitate.
The Lady Texans concluded a successful February facing Canyon Lake and Fredericksburg High Schools before moving toward the last four games of the regular season with momentum behind a three-game winning streak.
Coach Robert Klick said he loves softball, loves coaching softball and loves his Lady Texan softball team.
Wimberley High School’s Texan Stars dance team is set to compete at the Showmakers of America Texas State Dance/Drill Team Championships on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5 at Texas State University. Saturday’s events are for solos, ensembles and officer competitions while Sunday is set aside for team performances.
The 2023 Wimberley High School Texan varsity men’s basketball team is a senior heavy team. Seven seniors — three of which joined the squad once football season concluded — led the team through a tough district season losing only two games to eventual champion Boerne High School.
