The Wimberley Texans (12-0) continue to steamroll through playoffs as they take round 3 in playoffs 63-14 against the Ingleside Mustangs (11-1) Friday afternoon at Heroes stadium in San Antonio.

Ingleside started with the ball with the chance to strike first and they wasted no time in doing so with a 77 yard right up the middle first play touchdown to go up 7-0 15 seconds into the game. For a team that has only given up one touchdown in playoffs so far and has never trailed at any point The Texans were in foreign territory.

“This team has played a lot of tight games so that doesn’t really bother this group,” Head Coach Doug Warren said “They just keep playing and play hard, they don’t panic and that’s a mark of a good team” The Texans trailing didn’t last long as they marched down the field in 7 plays to score a touchdown and tie it back up at seven a piece. When Ingleside took over, the Code Red Defense had something to prove and they did just that as they came up with a huge interception to give their offense the ball inside the red zone.

It only took the offense three plays to get into the end zone and put the Texans back into familiar territory with the lead 14-7. After quick back to back scores it was all the Texans as they quickly went up 28-7 as they got into the end zone on their first four offensive drives. Ingleside did manage to get back into the end zone and force two turnovers with one interception before half but the Texans were still able to build a comfortable lead with a score of 35-14 going into halftime.

The second half was all Wimberley as they came out and returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown making a statement for the second half to cushion their lead to 4214. The defense also made a statement in the second half as the only three possessions of the half for Ingleside were scoreless as they threw an interception, went four and out and turned the ball over on downs with The Texans offense capitalizing and scoring on all of their drives adding insurance points to their lead and finishing the game with a final score of 63-14.

“They went out and did exactly what we asked them to do.” Warren said. We wanted them to be physical and bring some fight and they did that. We gave up the long run first play but I really liked the way we responded and came right back at them and just set the tone from there” Quarterback Cody Stoever threw for two touchdowns on 15 attempts with 9 completions and rushed for four more touchdowns as running backs Chase Carson and #7 Owen O’Neal also rushed for a touchdown of their own.

Wide receiver Noah Birdsong picked up the two receiving touchdowns from Stoever.

On the defensive side, defensive back Zach Patek had 2 interceptions as well as linebacker Ty Thames adding one interception to the total.

With this win the Texans are still a perfect 13-0 and will advance to round four and take on The Sinton Pirates (10-21).

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Southwest Legacy Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.
