The Texans hold their positive record

The Wimberley Texans (6-2) basketball team took on the Taylor Ducks (4-10) on Tuesday night in Taylor. In a high scoring game, Wimberley was not able to come out on top losing 86-82.

In the first quarter, the Texans had a slow start as they found themselves down 10 early in the game. In the second, both teams went basket for basket as the Texans were still down eight points at halftime.

In the second half, the Texans came out strong and regained the lead outscoring the Ducks 31-20 in the third giving them a slight fourth quarter lead. However, the Texans were not able to hold on to the lead fell to the Ducks on the road 86-82.

Ethan Sharpe led the way with 35 points. Sophomore Paul Gumbert followed him up with 19 of his own and seven assists.

On Thursday, the Texans (6-3) started a three day tournament in Glen Rose against the Springtown Porcupines (7-4) losing 75-52.

On Friday, Wimberley had a double header with the first of two games being against the Lubbock Christian Eagles (4-2) in which they lost close 61-59. In the second game of the match Wimberley took on the Dalhart Wolves this time winning a close one 59-56.

Then on Saturday they took on the Wall Hawks (2-4) losing 81-72 in the last game giving them a 1-3 record for the tournament.

The Wimberley Texans are now sitting at a 7-6 record with their next game on Tuesday being on the road against the Bastrop Bears (4-10) at noon.
