The Texans basketball team advanced to 2-1 this week as they won on the road against the Randolph Ro-Hawks (0-2) on Monday at Randolph Wimberley came out strong taking a commanding 10 point lead against the Ro-Hawks in the first half and never looked back as they out scores Randolph in every quarter but the second with a final score of 76-46 giving The Texans back to back wins.
Sophomore guard Paul Gumbert led the way with 22 points 9 rebounds 5 assists and 4 steals as Ethan Sharp and Holden Crawford both added 17 points each.
The Texans then took on the Brock Eagles (2-3) in what turned out to be an overtime thriller that this young Texan team was able to get out of playing at the Eagles stadium with a 82-78 win on Tuesday.
The Texans went down in the first half 32-26 but with a big third quarter out scoring the eagles 23-15 they were able to get back into the game and force overtime. In overtime the Texans were able to pull it out on the road outscoring the Eagles by 4 in overtime to win a barnburner of a game 82-78.
Gumbert led the way with 39 points and 6 rebounds as Sharp dropped an additional 25 points to lead the Texans to a huge win in what gives them a 3 game win streak as they currently sit at 3-1.
