The Wimberley Valley Watershed Association, in partnership with the Trinity Edwards Springs Protection Association, is holding a meeting February 9 at 6 p.m. in the Wimberley Community Center to discuss their collective efforts to address water issues in our area. They are inviting the public to attend so that, in the words of David Baker, Executive Director of the Watershed Association, “our water is managed sustainably.”

Riffs, Roams and Raves uncovers the creative, noteworthy and accomplished in the Wimberley Valley and beyond with tips on who to hear, where to go and what to see from managing editor Teresa Kendrick.

The community is invited to attend a dedication ceremony by the Wimberley Independent School District to commemorate the naming of the Johnna Beth Dennis Library at Blue Hole Primary school on February 16 at 4 p.m.

Wimberley’s Parks and Recreation department is hosting a Valentine’s Day gala at the Community Center from 7 to 10 p.m. on February 14. Sweethearts aged 18 and up can enjoy live music by the band, “Five O’Clock Somewhere,” a catered dinner by Railroad Bar-B-Que and all the magic possible from an evening designed to celebrate love.

On February 1, parents will be able to enroll their children for four of Camp CommUnity’s summer camps. The first camp, called “Blueprint for Fun,” which focuses on architecture, construction and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, which is known by the acronym STEAM, meets the week of June 24 through 28.

The Wimberley Democrats event to meet Hays County Democrats running for office in the March 2024 Democratic primary elections has been rescheduled to Sunday, February 4, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Oldham- Cumming VFW Post #6441, 401 Jacobs Well Road. A candidate meet and greet will take place from 2:30 to 3 p.m. for uncontested candidates followed by a moderated program from 3 to 5:30 p.m. for races with multiple candidates. The meeting was unexpectedly shut down last Sunday after a problem surfaced at the VFW facility. Ribbon Cutting at the Inn at Sunset Mill Ranch

After an eight month search, the owners of the Supper Club announced last week that they have passed ownership of the restaurant to Hildee’s. Chef Ryan Hildebrand and Wimberley investor, Paul Dunn, have partnered to purchase the land, building and assets from Phil Collins and Mark Grimes who were motivated to sell because of serious health concerns.

Following a fire that destroyed the interior of King Feed last week, the community has linked arms to support Wimberley’s iconic business.

Changes to the tax code caused property tax bills to come out late this year, and in the process, some bills were initially incorrect. Now the Hays County Tax Assessors’ Office is working on issuing refunds to those who paid too much.
