The sixth annual Wimberley Pride March takes place this Saturday, September 21 at 7 p.m. Participants will walk from the Visitor’s Center at 280 Old Kyle Road, through downtown Wimberley, to the Oak Park and Welcome Center at 109 Oak Drive. Supporters are encouraged to bring signs, wear colorful attire, and join the pride spirit in solidarity and support of the LGBTQ+ community.
“Each year our Pride March grows in size and significance,” said Shannon Rigby, of the Wimberley Pride Committee. “We are proud to bring together our community to celebrate the values of equality, acceptance and love.”
This year’s Pride celebration features Friday night events starting with a Pride Shirt Promo at Budaful Hiker from 4 to 6 p.m. on September 20. With the purchase of a Wimberley Pride t-shirt, participants receive a free beer at Middleton Brewing. At 6 p.m., the weekend officially kicks off at the Leaning Pear restaurant, 111 River Road #110.
“This annual event is a testament to the strength and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and we invite everyone to join us in this important celebration,” continued Rigby. “Whether you’re a longtime resident or visiting for the first time, we welcome you to stand with us as we continue to champion the rights and recognition of the LGBTQ+ community.”
