WHS students recognized in four College Board categories

Thirty-six Wimberley High School students were honored in four College Board National Recognition award categories. The programs celebrate underrepresented students who excel academically on College Board assessments, including PSAT/ NMSQT, PSATâ„¢ 10, and AP exams and are an opportunity for students to share their strong academic achievements with colleges and scholarship programs that are seeking to recruit diverse talent.

Eligible students were required to have a grade point average of 3.3 or higher. They must have scored within the top 10% in each state for each award program on PSAT/ NMSQT or PSAT 10 exams or earned a score of three or higher on two or more AP Exams in grades nine and ten. And, they must have attended school in a rural area or small town, or identify as African American or Black, Hispanic American or Latino, Indigenous or Native American, or a first-generation college student.

National Rural and Small Town award winners were: Carys Bowling, Rural Savannah Browning, Rural Rachel Caldwell, Rural Sean Dobbs, Rural Allison Dodds, Rural Jacob Farley, Rural Gabel Gitterle, Rural Eden Kruse, Rural Quentin Newton, Rural Gavin Olmer, Rural Anna Ripp, Rural Emma Schmidt, Rural Chloe Swindle, Rural Myles Van De Walle, Rural Sophia Veriato, Rural Baylee Willis, Rural National Hispanic Recognition award winners were: Isaiah Carrera, Hispanic Emma Lewis, Hispanic Sadie Osterhues, Hispanic Sophia Vitela, Hispanic National First-Generation Recognition award winners were: Taryn Chapman, First Generation Rylee Dill, First Generation Gage Trudeau, First Generation Noah Williams, First Generation Several students received honors in multiple categories: Jade Duncan, First Generation, Hispanic August Ginn, First Generation, Rural Maddox Gonzales, Hispanic, Indigenous, Rural Julian Jaggard, First Generation, Indigenous Whitlee Leonard, First Generation, Rural Elena Lewis, Hispanic, Rural Alexis Marinos, Hispanic, Rural Marco Perez, Hispanic, Rural Sebastian Rodriguez, Hispanic, Rural Hyatt Romp, First Generation, Indigenous, Rural Peyton Saugstad, First Generation, Rural Ian Sowersby, Hispanic, Rural In 2023, 42 WHS students were honored in the College Board National Recognition award program.
