Roadside Cleanup Sept. 28

Roadside Cleanup Sept. 28

On Saturday, September 28, Keep Wimberley Beautiful volunteers will spearhead a roadside cleanup on RR12 and are asking the community to help with the project.

KWB recently took over a stretch of road just past the intersection of Winter’s Mill Parkway and RR12 to Cragg’s Lumber that is part of Texas’s Adopt a Highway program. According to KWB’s Treasurer Sarah Attwood, the two-mile stretch has no sponsor and “hasn’t been tended in years. There’s plenty of debris there.”

KWB is looking for volunteers aged 18 and up to help with the cleanup. If volunteers want to bring younger people with them, please reach out to keepwimberleybeautiful@ gmail.com beforehand.

Participants will meet at 8 a.m. at Cragg’s Lumber and Home Center at 16965 RR12 at 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Adopt A Highway road cleanup kicks off KWB’s busiest part of the year. Soon they will be decorating the Cypress Creek bridge for Fall and on Saturday, October 26, they will conduct a city-wide cleanup with a free dumpster and paper shredding services, cosponsored by Ozona Bank. The dumpster is available for drop offs at 8 a.m. until noon, or until the dumpster is filled. This year it will be located again at Lion’s Field on FM 2325, opposite the market day’s entrance.

Also on October 26, KWB will hold a Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 200 Stillwater Dr., at the Constable Precinct 3 office. Citizens can drive up and drop off unused/expired medications.
