Wimberley ISD’s Blue Hole Primary School Principal Dara Brooks has announced she is retiring in December 2024, at the semester break of this school year. Ms. Brooks is in her 11th year as a principal in Wimberley ISD, serving the past five years at Blue Hole Primary and the previous six at Scudder Primary.
Previous to her time in WISD, Ms. Brooks was an administrator in Llano ISD, Taylor ISD, and Lampasas ISD. She also spent 13 years as a teacher in San Antonio and Boerne. In all, Ms. Brooks has served students and their families for 31 years as an educator.
“When Dara told me of her plans I had such mixed feelings, because I’m thrilled for her and her family, but disappointed to lose a leader of her quality,” WISD Superintendent Dr. Greg Bonewald said. “At the same time, I’m thankful for the team of leaders and professionals she has built at Blue Hole, which will allow us to seamlessly continue to provide excellent education and care for our students.”
Brooks, who said she greatly enjoyed her role in the planning, designing, and opening of the Blue Hole Primary campus in 2020, will spend her time traveling and spending time with her family.
“It’s been such an honor to serve the students and families of Wimberley. I leave with so many precious memories of interactions with students and staff members that will stay with me forever,” Brooks said. “I know that Blue Hole will continue to be a special place where WISD’s youngest students can thrive, nurtured by love and guided towards their full potential.”
Wimberley ISD will begin accepting applications for the Blue Hole Primary Principal position immediately, with plans to have the position filled in time to allow for a period of leadership transition with Ms. Brooks prior to her retirement.
