Wimberley’s Harvest Moon peaked on Sunday night as the Wimberley Institute of Culture’s annual dinner and dance fundraiser lit up the night sky at Fischer Hall.

The Wimberley Community Thanksgiving Dinner emerged in the mid-80s as a simple response to thoughts like, “I don’t have family to get together, or I really don’t want to be around my family. I would rather do Thanksgiving with my friends from town,” said Dave Lewis, 42year Wimberley resident and business owner. The 2022 version marks the 32nd occasion of the dinner, which Lewis and numerous volunteers last hosted at the Wimberley Community Center in 2019 prior to the breakout of COVID. That year, 701 people were served at the gathering.

Alexis Pointe, has started a weekly support group for families living with Parkinson’s called the Loud Crowd. The meetings will be at 11 a.m. every Wednesday at Alexis Pointe located at 14390 Ranch Road 12.

Quilt Guild monthly meeting The Wimberley Valley Quilt Guild will meet on Wednesday, November 2 at the Wimberley Presbyterian Church on FM 2325. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. and the business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m.

The Wimberley Texan Marching Band performed at the UIL Area contest Saturday afternoon in Liberty Hill. Their “NEVERMORE” program used dark tones and themes reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.”

Join the Hill Country Unit (HCU) of The Herb Society of America on November 16 for a hands on presentation called “Herbal Gift Ideas.” Kathy Boyle and D’Anna Tindal will share a few DIY holiday gifts containing herbs. You will leave with a few take home samples. The HCU meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at Wimberley Presbyterian Church 956 FM2325, Wimberley, TX 78676. Wimberley Gold Santa is getting started with the annual program for the children of Wimberley.

Early voting for the general election ends on Friday, Nov. 4, with the closely watched governor’s race pitting incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott against challenger Beto O’ Rourke headlining the ballot. A number of other statewide races are on the ballot, including lieutenant governor, attorney general, land commissioner, agriculture commissioner and comptroller.
