Sewage from the city of Wimberley’s sewer system flowed into the Blanco River for at least four hours over the weekend, due to a faulty lag float and an either ineffective or faulty alarm system.
Hays County remains gripped by excessive drought, but lawmakers have offered little in the way of proposals to quench the mounting problem. To the west, the Trinity Aquifer and the private wells it feeds are going dry. To the east, the San Marcos river flows at its lowest recorded level since 1997.
The value of a key youth program in the county was reinforced last week with the introduction of Sierra Murray, who was recently appointed as the 4H and youth coordinator for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office.
As announced last month, The Wimberley Players planned to launch a new community outreach initiative offering 20 free tickets to randomly selected local businesses or organizations for the opening weekend of each of their five 2023 season productions. The Wimberley Community Civic Club was the first to receive this prize.
