As spring approaches, multiple religious holidays follow: Easter, Passover, Ramadan and Holi. Each marks the renewal of the natural world and of hope, its counterpart in the psyche.
During this time, families and friends often gather around the table to celebrate that renewal. Setting a beautiful table — an art known as tablescaping — often becomes the focus of hosts who seek to create a harmonious and lasting impression. Montesino Ranch, a local retreat and wedding venue, aims to showcase this year’s tablescaping trends at its Celebrate Spring event on April 16.
“This is a little like bringing Pinterest to life! We hope the event inspires everyone to create their own beautiful tables at home,” said designer and artist Pearly Rihn, who organized the event with Lauren Groves. “We want to show that anything can spark an idea to create a theme, and by using a few bold elements, either from nature or from treasures we already have, we can build a winning tablescape that everyone can enjoy.”
The exhibition will demonstrate several of the 2023 décor trends: earthy textures and tones, reimagined antiques, sustainable design or making old things new and the vintage tea garden. Others will celebrate Mardi Gras and homestyle game nights.
Organized by the Wimberley Community Civic Club, the fundraiser will run from 3 to 6 p.m. and will feature a silent auction of 30 themed baskets, one free glass of a Hill Country wine or beer, hors d’oeuvres and music by Soma Jerome.
Tickets are $40 each and available at wimberleyccc. org under Spring Events. The last day to purchase tickets is April 10.
Montesino Ranch is located at 300 Little Arkansas Road.
