On any given game in district basketball season, no one knows for certain what you are bound to get.

The Wimberley High School Lady Texans have endured a rough start in district play facing three of the top eleven teams in 4A.

Wimberley High School’s Coach Mike Whitten came out of the HoopFest tournament prepared for a fight.

All four Wimberley junior high and high school gyms were filled on Wednesday, Dec. 28, as 31 teams competed for championships at Hoopfest ’22.

For the first time in school history, Wimberley High School will bring home a state championship in Track and Field.

Wimberley High School athletic director and head coach Doug Warren sat in the visitors’ locker room of the Alamodome Friday evening pondering the question: “In August, with all of the emotions swirling around about the football program, did you see this moment – preparing to play in the state championship game – as a possibility?” He paused, took in the moment, drew a cleansing breath and smiled that Warren grin.

It was a successful outing for the Wimberley Texan tennis team as three different duos were able to bring home medals including two golds.

Fredericksburg’s Billies brought the fight to Wimberley as the Lady Texans began district play last Tuesday, Dec 13.

Football season may start in the off-season, but dreams of playing at AT&T Stadium in Arlington begin in elementary and junior high.
