It was another dominant win for Wimberley as the Texans rolled over San Antonio Pieper in a 44-6 victory over the Warriors.

Wimberley moves to 2-0 for the season.

Despite turning the ball on downs in their first possession on the Pieper 10 yard line, the Texans scored the first points of the game with a safety as the vaunted Code Red Defense sacked the quarterback in the endzone.

Receiving the kickoff, Wimberley scored again with a eight yard rushing touchdown by Owen Neal.

Following a successful two point conversion, the Texans went up 10-0.

Pieper responded on the following drive as the Warriors scored a 25 yard passing touchdown to cut the lead to 10-6 following a missed extra point.

The Warriors put themselves back into the game as the Texans fumbled the ball which was recovered by the Pieper defense.

Driving all the way down to the five yard line, the Pieper offense was unable to punch the ball in as the Code Red defense held firm.

The Warriors proceeded to miss the field goal to keep the score at 10-6.

The special teams mistake turned costly as the Texans drove down the field and into the redzone.

Wimberley finished the drive by scoring on a four yard rushing touchdown by Cody Stoever to go up 17-6.

The Code Red defense came up with another stop the ensuing kickoff as the Texans forced and recovered the fumble to give the ball back to Wimberley.

Driving down to the Pieper nine yard line, Stoever found Nolan Waida for the nine yard touchdown pass as the Texans extended their lead to 24-6 before halftime.

With the Warriors receiving the kickoff to start the second half, the Code Red Defense came up with another stop, stuffing Pieper on fourth down to give the ball back to Wimberley.

Driving to the Pieper five yard line, Stoever struck again hitting Ty Thames for the score as the Texans pushed the lead out to 31-6.

Pieper once again tried their best to put themselves back in the game but the Code Red Defense stood tough once more, stuffing the Warriors again on fourth down and giving the offense the ball at midfield.

The Texans drove the ball down to the five yard line before Stoever found wide receiver Noah Birdsong for the score to go out 37-6 following the missed extra point.

The Texans scored their final touchdown of the night as Stoever punched it in to make a 44-6 game.

The Wimberley offense racked up 205 yards rushing on 44 carries with Stoever leading the attack with 17 carries for 90 yards and two scores. Chase Carson was second with 18 carries for 83 yards.

Stoever was also 20-28 on passing throws for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Birdsong and Waida tied for the most receiving yards with 73 yards apiece along with one score.

The Code Red Defense held Pieper to just 92 yards rushing and 107 yards passing while forcing a safety and stuffing the Warriors on fourth down twice in the second half.

The win follows the Texans dominating win over rival Canyon Lake in the Battle of the Backbone where Wimberley rolled to a 60-6 win.

Wimberley will travel to a neutral site this week to Mary Hardin Baylor’s Crusader Stadium as the Texans will take on the state ranked Brock Eagles.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
