In addition to the Community Wide City Clean Up events twice a year, KWB volunteers regularly plan and initiate pop-up roadside clean ups. We have certain people that take care of sections of roads and neighborhoods throughout the year.

The Katherine Anne Porter charter school in Wimberley turned up the heat last week for their annual Chili Cook Off and Cupcake Wars school fundraiser. Students, staff, board members and Chef Ryan Castille from the Wimberley Inn joined in the competition. Judging was conducted by Jay Bachman, co-owner of the Wimberley Cafe and Marco’s Restaurant; Pam Tise, a Longleaf Craft Kitchen + Bar partner and KAPS Board Member; and Jordan Elliot, KAPS School Board President.

For anyone buying a house in the past several years, the price tag as well as the ins and outs of market dynamics can be intimidating. For one who is curious exactly what those numbers were in the past year compared to 2022, the Austin Board of Realtors December 2023 and Year-End Central Texas Housing Market Report will provide that information for all of the five counties in the Greater Austin area.

The Lady Texans got their second showing of the number one team in the district, the Fredericksburg Billies, (24-4) in Wimberley Tuesday night with a chance to tie the series up after a loss to them on the road earlier in the season. Unfortunately that was not the case as the Texans fell short losing 63-44.

On Friday night the Texans returned to their home court to take on the Davenport Wolves (20-7) in a district matchup game. The Texans were unable to defend home court however, losing 81-57.

Week of January 26 - February 3 January 25

Last Saturday, a pickup truck crashed through the front of Durango’s restaurant, sending the wall and front door into the main dining room. Fortunately no one was injured in the crash and the business continues to be open for business.

The Blanco River Academy is launching enrollment for its 2024-2025 school year with an open house on January 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
