On Friday night the Texans returned to their home court to take on the Davenport Wolves (20-7) in a district matchup game. The Texans were unable to defend home court however, losing 81-57.
The Texans had a very slow start to the game allowing Davenport to go on a 25-0 run after the game was tied up 5-5 in the first quarter. In the second quarter is where Wimberley’s next basket would come as they cut into the lead to make it a 40-20 game going into halftime after trailing by 25.
In the third is where the Texans made some noise as they went on a run hitting shot after shot to cut the lead to just 10 shortly after the third quarter started. This quick run forced Davenport to call a timeout as the Texans stadium had coke to life so fast. After the timeout the Texans battled with Davenport to get back into the game but the Wolves were able to slowly build their lead back up to 20 as the young Texan team couldn’t stay in the game. In the fourth quarter it was more of the same as both teams didn’t go on any runs ending the game with a 8157 loss to the Davenport Wolves. On Tuesday night the Wimberley Texans traveled to Fredericksburg (14-13) to take on the Billies in a district matchup game with Wimberley currently holding on to the 4th place spot in district. The Texans were able to go on the road and win a big game 65-59.
On Tuesday the Wimberley Texans (15-11) will go on the road to take on the Bandera Bulldogs (14-12) in what could be one of the more important games of the season as the Bulldogs currently hold the 5th place spot in district just one game back from Wimberley.
