The first week of practice is in the books for the 2022 football season as the Wimberley Texans now look to their first scrimmage against Davenport.

The Wimberley Texans Volleyball wrapped up their first week of practices and scrimmages as they moved towards the start of the regular season Tuesday night against Buda Johnson before coming home to host the Tex-Fest Volleyball Tournament.

A wildfire near the Hays-Blanco County line, named the Smoke Rider Fire, burned through over 1,210 acres, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

A wildfire broke out on the edge of the Wimberley Valley last week burning an estimated 44 acres over six days before essentially being contained early this week. As of the morning of August 9, the fire was close to 100% contained with the hope for the fire to be deemed officially contained later in the day.

Wimberley ISD is pleased to announce that Ryan Wilkes has been named the next principal of Wimberley High School. The WISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Superintendent Greg Bonewald’s recommendation at its special-called meeting on August 3. The move will go into effect following the conclusion of the 2022 Fall Semester when current WHS Principal Jason Valentine assumes the duties of WISD Assistant Superintendent.

Wimberley City Administrator Mike Boese is retiring effective at the end of September.
