Wimberley Scout Troop 127 participated in the 2022 Billy Sandifer Beach Cleanup at the Padre National Seashore earlier this year. They joined a group of over 500 volunteers in removing 30 tons of trash from a 25-mile stretch of Padre Island. The day started wet and dreary and deteriorated from there. Despite the conditions, the Scouts remained in high spirits.
With the heat of the summer upon us, one of Wimberley’s iconic swimming holes has closed for swimming as of June 29. This might be a glimpse of what the future holds for Jacob’s Well if Wimberley isn’t able to come to terms with its reliance on groundwater and the droughts of the future, according to those who have been trying to protect the well for decades.

The Board of Directors of the Katherine Anne Porter School named current Interim Superintendent Nadine Pabst as the lone finalist to become Superintendent of the Wimberley charter school at last week’s meeting.

Robert Peter Pierce, affectionately known as Dr. Bob, passed away on June 19. The storied teacher may have finished his career and service in Wimberley, but he spent a lifetime impacting everyone around him.
One of the many special events happening in Wimberley this coming Fourth of July weekend is Wimberley Market Day on Saturday the 2nd. WMD will be in full-swing with hundreds of vendors selling their one-of-a-kind treasures and crafts. Concession stands will be stocked with ice-cold drinks and tasty treats including the popular bar-B-que at Concession #9. Also, the Wimberley Lions Club haulers will be available to help shoppers transport large purchases to their vehicles. One-hundred percent of the do nations collected by the drivers go back into the local community through grants and scholarships.
Hays County Elections Administrator Jennifer Doinoff was appointed in May to Co-Chair the statewide education advisory committee of the Texas Association of Counties County Elections Academy (CEA). The newly formed committee will advise TAC and help set the curriculum for the CEA, a new education and training program specifically for those in county governments who administer elections.
It is now officially summer and as of June 21 the days are getting shorter. It has felt like summer since May this year and our record breaking hot and dry days are a worry.
It was a successful day for the Wimberley Adoption Group & Rescue, also known as WAG Rescue, as they were able to find new homes for their eight puppies that were up for adoption.
