KAPS names superintendent lone finalist

The Board of Directors of the Katherine Anne Porter School named current Interim Superintendent Nadine Pabst as the lone finalist to become Superintendent of the Wimberley charter school at last week’s meeting.

The Board of Directors of the Katherine Anne Porter School named current Interim Superintendent Nadine Pabst as the lone finalist to become Superintendent of the Wimberley charter school at last week’s meeting.

Following Texas’ required 21- day waiting period for superintendent appointments, Pabst is expected to continue in her interim role through July 31 and begin her employment officially as Superintendent with a oneyear contract effective August 1, 2022.

“Nadine has proven herself already in this role, as she has jumped into the messy middle of it, working tirelessly to ensure that KAPS is providing the best educational experience to our students and that the school’s business and operational functions are compliant and efficient,” Jordan Elliott, Vice-President of the KAPS Board of Directors, said. “With experience in leading and designing professional development, guiding data-driven instruction, and promoting a safe environment through restorative discipline techniques, we have the utmost confidence that Nadine is the right person for the job. She fits right in at KAPS, where inclusivity, compassion, and creativity are core values guiding the path to academic success and ultimately leading meaningful, fulfilled, lives.”

Pabst shares that, “It is my belief that all students can learn, given a positive and nurturing learning environment. My belief is that we are not only growing student knowledge, but also teacher knowledge and capacity. I look forward to being part of the KAPS family and leading the school to exemplary status!”

A six-member subcommittee, inclusive of two board members, two students, one parent and one teacher, led the Superintendent search process.

A survey and conversations with KAPS stakeholders informed the job description and the search. After interviewing the top candidates, a quorum of the board Board proposed and approved Pabst as the lone finalist at a June 28 public meeting. Under Texas law, a 21-day wait period follows the naming of a lone finalist, then a school superintendent can be appointed and begin employment.
