Jim Chiles, outgoing Place Four City Council member, has filed an application to run for the position of mayor in the upcoming City of Wimberley General Election May 4. He is hoping to fill the slot left by outgoing Mayor Gina Fulkerson. For Place Two on the City Council, Bo Bowman has put forth his application to replace outgoing Teresa Shell. Robert Clark has applied to fill Place Four. The City began accepting applications January 17 and will continue until the deadline on February 16 at 5 p.m.

The Katherine Anne Porter charter school in Wimberley turned up the heat last week for their annual Chili Cook Off and Cupcake Wars school fundraiser. Students, staff, board members and Chef Ryan Castille from the Wimberley Inn joined in the competition. Judging was conducted by Jay Bachman, co-owner of the Wimberley Cafe and Marco’s Restaurant; Pam Tise, a Longleaf Craft Kitchen + Bar partner and KAPS Board Member; and Jordan Elliot, KAPS School Board President.

The Lady Texans got their second showing of the number one team in the district, the Fredericksburg Billies, (24-4) in Wimberley Tuesday night with a chance to tie the series up after a loss to them on the road earlier in the season. Unfortunately that was not the case as the Texans fell short losing 63-44.

On Friday night the Texans returned to their home court to take on the Davenport Wolves (20-7) in a district matchup game. The Texans were unable to defend home court however, losing 81-57.
