Being an artist community, Wimberley has allowed a variety of artists of many different styles and practices to work on their craft to become successful.

Our poor plants are struggling with the meager rainfall and late freezes. I keep a plant diary and most plants are at least three weeks late in blooming. However, I noticed my Carolina Jasmine vine is blooming. There are flowers on the Agarita and Texas Mountain Laurel. All three of these plants are evergreen, drought tolerant and grow in either full sun or part shade.

Wimberley Valley Big Band concert

The Wimberley Valley Big Band, March 24th from 7pm-9pm. “Wimberley Moonlight Swing”. This ticketed fundraiser will feature tunes near to our hearts both old and new, sparkling vocals, a dance floor for those who enjoy “cutting a rug,” and a beautiful setting in which to gather with friends and kick back for a glorious evening.

An Eastland County sheriff’s deputy died Thursday as wildfires swept through several small Texas communities west of Dallas, destroying at least 50 homes and charring more than 54,000 acres as of Sunday.
