Later this fall, the Hill Country Community Band will share their musical gifts by presenting “Gems of the Concert Band” at the First Baptist Church of Wimberley.

The gift of temperate weather greeted revelers for the fifth annual Wimberley Pride Parade. Hundreds of citizens marched and lined the parade route from the Oak Park & Welcome Center, through the square, across RR 12 and down Old Kyle Road displaying rainbow flags and other rainbow- themed apparel to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community. The parade ended at 280 Old Kyle Road at the site of the new Visitor Information Center, which remains under renovation.

Since 2009, Wimberley’s Veterans of Foreign Wars, Oldham-Cummings Post #6441, has remembered the 2,977 people who died and the thousands who were injured on Sept. 11, 2001.

John Eastman — former President Donald Trump’s lawyer and one of the people indicted in the state of Georgia’s case alleging an illegal plot to overturn the 2020 election — was one of six speakers at the Oldham-Cummings VFW Post 6441 in Wimberley over the weekend.

Hays County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to create a Veterans Commission to support and promote veterans needs at their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday. The court heard a presentation on the veterans commission from Hays County Veterans Services Officer Jude Prather in which he discussed the need to facilitate better communication among various veteran groups and formalize the process by which roads are named after fallen soldiers.
