Hays County Elections officials want voters to be aware of the new Texas vote-by-mail ballots and recent changes to the process of voting by mail to help ensure every vote counts.

The Rotary Club of Wimberley announced the winner and runner up of the third Danforth Rotary Loves Readers contest of the school year. This challenge asked students to write an original Greek myth. The runner up is seventh grader, Jack Malone (left). Jack wrote a myth titled: Two Gods, Two Brothers and a Tornado. Jack received $50. The winner of a crisp $100 bill is 6th grader, Ashley Weaver (far left) who wrote The Moon and Sea.
The Old Hays County Jail has recently seen some activity for the first time in a while. Curious San Marcans need not worry as the jail is expected to see interior restorations of the historical building in the future.
The Chefs Dinner Fundraiser for Katherine Anne Porter School just added a familiar face. Linda Allen, whose restaurant Linda’s Fine Foods was located across the street from KAPS for years, has agreed to offer her cuisine for the fundraiser.

Recently I took a walk down the Cypress Creek Nature Preserve trail. This trail is located behind the Martha Knies Park in downtown Wimberley on Old Kyle Road near the radio station and Lumberyard parking lot. They call it the Lumberyard parking lot because a Lumberyard was located there back in the day.
The frustration was palpable at the Wimberley Community Center last week as around 200 members of the public attended a meeting hosted by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on the proposed air quality permit that would be the first step in the process of creating a quarry on Needmore Ranch.
Starlight Symphony Orchestra performed a collection of works aimed to showcase the love of music on Sunday at Wimberley First Baptist Church. The orchestra’s “Sharing the Love of Music” performance featured works by Dvorak and Verdi. “Each piece was selected with the mindset of grandness, fondness, beauty, and the pure joy of sharing the love of music with friends,” the orchestra said.
