Changes to your Wimberley View

It’s said change is inevitable — and over the last few years we’ve seen a lot.

It’s said change is inevitable — and over the last few years we’ve seen a lot.

And the Wimberley View has a few changes this week – one of them likely already apparent to long-time readers.

The first change is rather exciting. Expected late this week, we will have undergone a website upgrade that is going to allow us to reach a much larger audience in a way that is more in tune with today’s digital age. Our website – wimberleyview.com – will soon feature a metered paywall. Instead of having 100% of the content behind a paywall, the new method will allow visitors three free articles a month in exchange for only your email address. This will allow us to utilize many different aspects, including social media, in a way that is more consistent with standard best practices. For current online subscribers, all you’ll have to do is enter your email address the first time you visit the website once the transition officially occurs and then confirm that address is accurate from your email account. After that, it is all smooth sailing. Because this process comes with added security, it will allow us to automatically bill readers who subscribe through our website – something which has been requested for years by our long-term subscribers.

You’ll also notice another change — just ever so slight — in the width of the newspaper. It’s a little narrower. If you read other newspapers in the area, well then you won’t notice much — it’s the same width as theirs.

Why the change? Due to the dramatic in crease in newsprint cost we were left with little choice. It’s just that simple.

You won’t miss out on anything as it relates to the local news, sports, photography, and advertising. It’s all there — just on a page one inch narrower.

Due to this change, we’ve had a slight redesign of the front page, and that process may continue to be fine tuned over the coming weeks. We hope you like the new look, we thank you for your understanding and continued support as we make this transition.
