A nearly monthslong drought has settled over Hays County while high temperatures continue to leach from the region’s precious water resources. Both factors have been instrumental in causing wildfires throughout the area and beyond, including two separate fires early this week.
Blue Hole Regional Park announced on Monday the closure of its popular swimming area for two weeks, effective August 21 at 6 p.m.

On Saturday morning, the seventeenth annual Back to School Fiesta at the Barnabas Connection kicked off in Wimberley. More than 458 backpacks filled with school supplies awaited students who had pre-registered for the event. In addition to the school supplies, 16 community organizations provided services and resources to the students and their families.
