It can be hard to compete when your entire team isn’t available to take the field. That didn’t stop the Wimberley girls’ track team from winning the home track meet the Texan Relays last week.
The Texas Relays are the second largest track meet in the United States and draw some of the best competition in the nation. While it is a collegiate competition at its heart, the top Texas high school athletes also compete with a stringent list of qualifying times required to enter. While it may not be the state championships, it isn’t too far off, and in some categories it can be even more difficult.

The Lady Texans finished in fourth place by one shot as a team even though they only had the minimum required four players meaning every individual’s score counted. Normally, the worst individual finish is dropped from a five-person team.
