RUSSELL WAYNE ABEL
A graduate of Canyon High School, Russell was a master stonemason and took pride in his creative stonework complementing hundreds of family homes throughout his more than 40-year career. He was a man who cherished his wife and family and maintamed lifelong friendships since childhood. Those who knew him would describe him as selfless, honest, hard-working, responsible, respected, and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He found pleasure allowing his wife and sons die first shot, even His sense of humor was legendary. He loved making friends laugh and strangers smile. Growing up, Russell excelled at multiple sports, but baseball was his love. He took great pride watching his sons and grandchildren excel in their sports.
Russell Abel was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Abel. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janet Erdman Abel; son Josh and wife Jodi, and grandchildren Josslyn, Jillian and Jude; son Gus and wife Camille, and granddaughter Bedi Ann; his mother Leora Schaefer; sister Karen Garrison and husband Clyde; sister Joy Logan and husband Kevin; step-siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and many great friends.
The Abels wish to diank the numerous friends and family that have shown support through his illness, along with the staff of Hope Hospice for their professional care, kindness and comfort.
A celebration of Russell's life will be held at 11 a.m.
Saturday, May 11 at First Baptist Church Wimberley at 15951 Winters Mill Parkway in Wimberley, witii a reception to follow.
