ROSE HENRY

Rose Henry passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024 at the age of 79.

Born in Crane, TX to Turk & Rose Marshall, Rosie Lee was the baby of the family and an adorable, curly-haired spitfire who laughed, danced and sang her way into everyone’s heart. She spent most of her life in and around Kermit, moving to Wimberley after retirement. Rosie always marched to her own beat and is probably now skipping along streets of gold while joyfully joining the heavenly choir…with a few Elvis tunes mixed in for good measure!

Rose leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her family, including her daughters, Donna & Joe Carrell, and Kathy & Mike Bitterman. Rose also leaves her sister, Mary Mason, sisters- in-law Clara Marshall and Gloria Jean Hallmark, cherished friend/travel buddy/partner-in-mischief Betty Huffman, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. She joins in Heaven those who preceded her: her husband, Mel Henry, her parents, L.L. Turk and Rose Marshall, brother, O.L. Jack Marshall, son, Jackie Dean Hallmark and beloved niece, Debbie Mason.

As a single mother, Rose embodied her love of Jesus and worked tirelessly to provide for her children. Her family was her pride and joy. She found joy everywhere, especially with her grandkids. Mema loved playing any and all games as many times as was wanted (except Monopoly, she hated it but loved the time with Michael). She loved cheering Jacob in the goal, never letting on that she was clueless to soccer and teaching Marshall to “play hooky” from church when they stayed up too late. Mema endowed her love of Elvis to both Tiffany and Mallory until they were “All Shook Up”. Mema stirred her love of cooking into Casey and Tiffany (especially the pink-flecked mashed potato incident), and she shared her love of chocolate gravy with almost everyone who ever tried it - especially Hannah. Each one of her grandchildren was regaled with laughter, shenanigans, and they all knew they were loved.

A Celebration of Life service will be held with the same joy Rose brought to life on Saturday, April 13, at 1 pm at Wimberley Christian Church. She will be laid to rest alongside family in Kermit, TX. Rosie Lee will forever be remembered as a child of God, a strong woman, a loving Momma, Mema, sister and friend.
