Rolling Oaks MusicFest May 11 and 12

Returning to its traditional date of Mother’s Day weekend, the fourteenth annual Rolling Oaks MusicFest Fundraiser will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12. The family- friendly event will offer free music and sell tickets for barbecue on Saturday and a pancake brunch on Sunday.

The talent lineup includes the Hill Country Honeys, Mike Bond, Ricky Todd, Him and Her, The Elliott Rodgers Band, Late for Dinner, Patrick Green, Steve Wood and Bob Slaughter.

The festival showcases the intimate Rolling Oaks Club stage, natural park surroundings and musical talent to raise funds for the maintenance and operation of the Rolling Oaks Club.

“Bring your chairs or blankets and laidback attitudes,” said Bob Tom Reed, producer for the event. “Our festival will entertain the Rolling Oaks way — with good music and food served up in a relaxed country setting.” Reed was a guitarist in the psychedelic rock band Shiva’s Headband, which formed in Austin in 1967. The house band at the Vulcan Gas Company nightclub in the late 1960s, the band is credited with helping to establish the Armadillo World Headquarters.

On Saturday, music will be performed from noon to 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Food will be served on Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Adult meals are $15.

Kid’s plates are $7. Soft drinks and desserts will be available for purchase. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance. The Pancake Brunch is $5.00 per person. Any remaining BBQ will be sold at Saturday prices.

The event takes place at the clubhouse, 1031 Lonesome Trail in Driftwood in the Rolling Oaks subdivision, seven miles east of Wimberley on FM 3237.
