The Wimberley Valley Big Band will soon present their spring concert and dance fundraiser, aptly titled “Rhapsody in Bluebonnets.”
The performance will take place on Thursday, April 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Old Glory Ranch Gatehouse Pavilion, a popular wedding and event venue since 1997. Located off River Road, the bucolic venue offers several “stages” for events, including the Chapel Hall and Gatehouse Pavilion.
According to their website, Chapel Hall “was built from repurposed homes and churches from (the) turn of the century.”
The WVBB’s special gala will enable the band to purchase new music to perform at their free concerts throughout the year. Funds raised during this event will also go towards providing a scholarship for a local student.
The WVBB website describes the future recipient as “a graduating senior who has demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in instrumental band music,” and its purpose as “applications will be considered both for a traditional university, or for a qualified non-traditional institution of higher learning in the area of music performance or education.”
The family-friendly function promises the prospect of great music, an open dance floor and the band’s contagious conviviality, all enveloped in a beautiful setting. Another festive feature of the evening will be a silent auction of donated gift items and vouchers for various local experiences, such as fine dining. Complimentary snacks will be available. Each ticket purchased includes two drink tickets for soft drinks, or beer or wine.
The price for an individual ticket is $35. Pricing for tables of ten is posted on their website. Tickets are available online at wimberleyvalleybigband.
