Any Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon in Wimberley, one can hear the satisfying click-click-click of tiles as mahjong players commence what some say is the hottest game in town.

The Wimberley High School Texan (11-8-1 overall, 5-5-1 district) and Lady Texan (17-32 overall, 8-3-1 district) soccer teams advanced through district into the UIL playoffs after one of the toughest seasons for both teams in quite a while. The ladies finished third behind Boerne and Davenport High Schools with the guys finishing in fourth, a position secured in the last week of district play.
Texan Stadium hosted the Wimberley Texan Relays with nine schools competing at both junior varsity and varsity levels, including a couple of district foes for the Texans as both Canyon Lake and Fredericksburg High Schools brought their teams to town. Field events started early in the afternoon followed by the 3200 meter run.
Wimberley High School softball (4-9 overall, 1-0 district) continued their district schedule last week heading to Bandera High School on Tuesday, March 21.
Texan baseball (108-1 overall, 2-1 district) entered play last week, set to complete the first round of district games against Canyon Lake and Boerne High Schools.
The city of Wimberley is winding down cleanup of tree and limb debris resulting from the recent ice storm.
The Wimberley Valley Visitors Center will soon be joined by another visitor’s center in town, thanks to the city of Wimberley’s impending purchase of property just off of the Square.

The death of a Leander High School graduate from a fentanyl overdose has prompted state Rep. Terry Wilson, R-Georgetown, to file a bill that would require 10 hours of education annually concerning the dangers of the drug to students in sixth grade and up, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
