It was a successful fundraiser for the Friends of the Wimberley Village Library as the group raised over $1,000 dollars as part of their quilt raffle.

The Wimberley Players open up the world of theatre to children with the 2nd annual First Stage Theatre Camp. In this three-day camp for kids aged 8 to 12, participants can peek behind the curtain into the dynamic and rewarding world of theatre.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change (2018) with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, opens on The Wimberley Players stage July 15 and runs through August 7. This hilarious celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind ‘the relationship.’ It explores dating and waiting, love and marriage, as well as the agonies of in-laws, newborns, and trips in the family car. The original version of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is the second longest-running off-Broadway musical with over 5,000 performances. New songs, re vised lyrics, and dialogue throughout the show reflect relationships today.

A near-lifetime of collecting Texas-related books and pamphlets has been capped with the April 23 dedication of the Mike Cox Texas Collection at the San Marcos Public Library.

One of the easiest plants I have growing in my yard is Thryallis, (Galphimia glauca). Thryallis is a small shrub that grows 5 feet to 9 feet tall. It is a hardy, evergreen shrub that is excellent for its low maintenance and beautiful yellow flowers almost year round. Deer do not eat it. It grows in full sun or limited shade. Very drought resistant. Grows easily from seeds or cuttings. In fact, mine have spread too easily but I just let them keep growing. (I have many small plants if you would like to have one or more. Despite battling the heat, guests were still able to celebrate “Pearl of a Party” as Wimberley Glassworks celebrated their 30th anniversary.

Susanna’s Kitchen returns to the Wimberley Valley this Thursday night at the United Methodist Church of Wimberley as the concert series kicks off with singer-songwriter Slaid Cleaves on June 16.

As the days get longer and the temperature gets higher with no rain relief in sight, we really appreciate the plants that can take the Texas summers. Our summer bloomers are making their appearance.
