Tennis advances six to regional tourney

Texan tennis has enjoyed success. They are the reigning state champions in team tennis from this past fall with the Texan’s district producing either the state champion or runner up since as far back as 2015. Last year’s spring state championship in boys doubles was a battle between two Wimberley teams for the second year in a row and the mixed doubles team made it to the final four at the state tournament. Wimberley’s Texan softball (1-2 district) closed out the first half of their district season last week. The first half has been difficult as the ladies won the opening district contest versus Canyon Lake in dramatic fashion then falling in the subsequent games to both Bandera and Fredericksburg. Soccer begins playoffs

The Wimberley High School Texan (11-8-1 overall, 5-5-1 district) and Lady Texan (17-32 overall, 8-3-1 district) soccer teams advanced through district into the UIL playoffs after one of the toughest seasons for both teams in quite a while. Texan Stadium hosted the Wimberley Texan Relays with nine schools competing at both junior varsity and varsity levels, including a couple of district foes for the Texans as both Canyon Lake and Fredericksburg High Schools brought their teams to town.
