Chris Sheffield was sworn in to serve as Place 3 Council Member at the Wimberley City Council meeting last week.
By swearing in at the meeting on Nov. 17, Sheffield fills the vacancy left by the resignation of Christine Byrne in October.
A resident of Wimberley for more than 11 years, Sheffield most recently served on the City’s Planning & Zoning Commission and previously chaired the Transportation Advisory Board.
Sheffield is employed as the State Parks Trails Coordinator for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, where he manages design/build of state park trail projects across the state.
A graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Communication and Natural Resource Management, Sheffield also earned a Master of Applied Geography from Texas State University.
In addition to his Wimberley volunteer service, Sheffield has extensive volunteer experience, ranging from conservation service with the City of Austin Water Quality Protection Lands located in Hays County to youth education with the nonprofit Sustainable Food Center. Sheffield is a 2010 Conservation Fellow with the Audubon Together Green Fellowship Program and has worked professionally with the National Park Service, Public Lands Service Coalition, Texas Recreational Trails Advisory Board and American YouthWorks.
Sheffield and his wife have two sons who attend Danforth Junior High and Wimberley High School.
