Barnabas Connection, a nonprofit dedicated to “changing lives through connection,” is hosting a housewarming event to celebrate its first year in its new home.
The event will be held at the organization’s location at 101 West Spoke Hill Drive in Wimberley (formally the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection). It will run from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
This new space allows for expanded services and the ability to act as a shelter for the Wimberley Valley during a crisis.
Executive Director Kate Sowell said she would like to thank the Lutheran Church and its parishioners for their generosity in offering the property and building at a price that allows Barnabas to continue growing their reach in the community.
“The goal is for our building to be a Connecting Place, where all community members come together to share their talents and to learn and grow,” she said. “We invite the community to join us and learn more about our updated mission, vision and values. We look forward to sharing more about our plans for upcoming educational programming and mental health resources.”
The Barnabas housewarming event will honor the past, celebrate the present and show plans for the future, according to the organization. Guests will be allowed to tour the building and learn more about the multiple programs and services that the organization provides to the community. Attendees will also be about to visit demonstrations of an emergency shelter situation, back-to-school fiesta/celebration and Christmas store.
The family-friendly, holiday-themed event will feature a hot chocolate bar, cookie bar, light appetizers and photos with Santa Claus.
The event is free to the public, and tickets are not required.
