The Wimberley Knights of Columbus, Council 9151, wrapped up another successful Hunters Night Out on Saturday evening October 22.
The Knights of Columbus contributed over $80,000 to over 19 local nonprofit organizations. These gifted funds were raised through the generosity and contributions of HNO Sponsors and local community supporters of the Wimberley Knights of Columbus.
The 19th Annual Hunters Night Out evening started with home grown singer Ashton Naylor providing musical entertainment then singing the National Anthem as the Marine Color Guard presented our National Flag. More than 1,200 HNO guests enjoyed a delicious barbecue dinner under the big tent on St Mary’s parking lot. The event provided an evening for old and new friends to gather and enjoy a wonderful evening crowned by a beautiful Texas sunset. Audio Video Director Peter Bartell positioned screens and speakers inside and outside the tent, so everyone could see and hear the gun raffle, live auction, card scrambles and bucket raffles.
The live auction featured weekend getaways, golf equipment, a golf weekend, puppies, longhorn cattle, hunting and fishing trips, Blake Shelton and Houston Texan Tickets plus a Hawaii vacation. Not to be outdone, the 27 bucket raffle items included a kayak, deer feeder, hand carved duck decoys, $500 cash, a beer cart, beverage barrows, local merchant donations and gift cards. The admission ticket qualified the purchaser for a chance to win one of 30 guns raffled off at HNO with the proceeds going to local nonprofits and scholarships.
The Knights of Columbus also donated $15,000 to the Marvin Joseph Scholarship Fund which provides scholarships to local students. Tom Keyser was a friend and a benefactor of the KofC. The Knights were pleased to give $5,000, in memory of Tom, to My Neighbors Keeper, a community service organization Tom founded.
The Knights of Columbus have raised and contributed back to the community over $1 million in the last 19 years.
