The 35th Annual Hill Country Home Tour kicks off with a high-profile event, Thursday Nov. 3, at the home of Jerry and Tricia Linklater Fields. Organized by the Wimberley Community Civic Club, the Kick-Off Party will be held at the Field’s residence overlooking the Blanco River from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. The cocktail fundraiser features musical performers, Pear Duo, the dynamic and entertaining husband and wife team of Julie Ragins and Curtis Brengle. Guests may savor hors’ d’oeuvres from RR12 Supper Club of Wimberley and The Videre, as well as an open bar while they tour the Fields’ home and peruse the online auction items.
The crown of the auction is a five-day yacht excursion for eight in Mexico. The yacht is an 86 ft. Hatteras Sports Fisherman vessel currently berthed between Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas. It has four state rooms, which sleep up to eight, four bathrooms with showers, an expansive solon and galley area, as well as a large wheelhouse at the top level. A large cockpit area in the aft section for fishing is equipped with all necessary fishing tackle. Included in the package is a three-to-four-member crew who perform all essential tasks. The auction item includes two coach class tickets to and from a Texas airport, five days and nights on board, all food and drinks, television and Wi-Fi while the vessel is docked, and transportation from the airport to the yacht. Christened the Londolozi, the yacht is available for Thanksgiving week in Cabo and any other mutually agreed-upon time. The opening bid starts at $25,000 and bidders can vie online for the top bid from Nov. 3 to Nov. 15 at WimberleyCCC.org. Other items in the auction include vacation stays, jewelry, art, classes and crafts.
Pear Duo spent nearly 30 years in Los Angeles touring, recording, and performing with a long list of household names in the music industry. Their music is a fusion of jazz and pop, with threads of soul, Americana, rock-n-roll, and blues. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the musicians and mingle with them throughout the event.
The Hill Country Home Tour itself commences Friday Nov. 11 and runs through Saturday Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. It features four unique homes plus the historic Winters-Wimberley house. Purchase tickets online at WimberleyCCC. org. Pick up for tickets, admission brochure, and wristbands are at the Wimberley Visitor Center on Nov. 4, 5, and Nov. 9 through 12.
