Lindsey Deringer would be an ideal addition to the Wimberley ISD school board. Being an educator myself, I have been missing the perspective of an educator on the board. Lindsey would bring this perspective to the board. The Covid19 pandemic has shown the immense value our teachers bring to our community and it has also highlighted the strains and pressures teachers have to work under on a daily basis. The needs and perspectives of our teachers are essential to keep WISD a district that works for our kids.
Like me, Lindsey has three kids who are currently in WISD schools. She has lived here for nearly a decade and knows the community well. She has continuously volunteered for and is deeply committed to our schools and our community. Our paths have crossed many times and our families have become friends. Knowing her well, I can unequivocally recommend her as a school board trustee.
School board elections have also become far too partisan and political.
Teachers are restricted in materials they can teach or books are banned from libraries because of the wishes of a few and as a consequence all of our kids are denied access to a broad range of perspectives and materials. We need a board of trustees that leaves political theater out of WISD and concentrates on setting the framework in which our children can flourish. Qualified teachers and librarians need to be in charge to teach effectively and to make resources available to our kids.
Lindsey is firmly committed to a non-partisan approach to her job as a school board trustee and has promised to and will listen to and consider all sides.
That’s why she should be your choice for trustee. Please vote for Lindsey Deringer, Place 5, WISD school board!
