The Rolling Oaks Music Festival raised around $4,500 going towards maintenance and support of the neighborhood’s park, community clubhouse and pool.
“It went great,” Dan Pickens, co-producer and barbecue chef for the Rolling Oaks Music Festival, said. “This was the first time we ever sold out of barbecue. The $4,500 we raised is a record for us as well. We had a great list of bands, and everybody had a good time.”
The two-day event has become a tradition with the musically-inclined neighborhood showing off some of its own talent as well as bringing in other bands for the festival.
“I think this festival is unique in that it truly is a community gathering,” Pickens said. “We want folks to come, but the net result is what feels like a core community here in Rolling Oaks… It is small and intimate. It is a casual setting. It is a nice day and half of solid music, camaraderie and fun raising money for a good cause.”
