The Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce has chosen Becca Hancock as the organization’s new Executive Director.
Hancock’s first day began on Sept. 6.
She joined the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce following a stint as the Revive SMTX Grant Manager where she worked in conjunction with the city of San Marcos and the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce. For almost a year, she has facilitated the distribution of federal funds to help businesses navigate through the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I love Wimberley and look forward to working with the business community,” Hancock said. “Wimberley is the jewel of Central Texas, and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity.”
Before moving to Wimberley in 2017, Hancock worked as the president of the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce. There she managed a 700-member chamber of commerce including all aspects of operations. She increased membership by 100%, implemented purchase of new chamber building and renovation, increased non-dues income, implemented new member benefits and implemented government and legislative programs.
Prior to her leadership in Mansfield, she was the Vice President of the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce. There she managed special events, coordinated public relations and communications, developed the Chamber of Commerce monthly newsletter and website, coordinated Leadership program and Leadership Alumni program, staff liaison for various chamber and city committees.
When not at work Hancock is active as a volunteer and has devoted herself to such organizations as: United Way of Hays Caldwell County, Golf Tournament Chair; Mansfield Rotary Club, Club Service Chairman; Methodist Health System Steering Committee for Methodist Mansfield; Arlington YMCA Board of Directors; YMCA Taste of Arlington Entertainment Chair; Grand Prairie Rotary Club.
She and her husband Lance Winter, publisher of the Wimberley View, San Marcos Daily Record and Dripping Springs Century News, are proud to call Wimberley home.
