The rivalry between Wimberley and Fredericksburg etched another chapter in their story as both the Texans and the Battlin’ Billies fought in a Top 25 matchup.

The No. 15 ranked Billies were looking to avenge their playoff loss to Wimberley in the Regional Quarterfinals while the Texans looked to continue their district championship streak.

It was a tough war in the first set as Fredericksburg struck the first blow winning 25-23.

Wimberley responded in a big way as the Texans took the second set and tied the game up at 25-17.

In a pivotal third set, both teams looked to take the early advantage going up one.

In the end, Wimberley won a hard fought battle winning 25-21.

However Fredericksburg did not back down despite facing elimination.

The Billies tied the series at 2-2 by winning the fourth set and forcing a decisive fifth set at 25-17.

Coming down to the final set, it was Wimberley who knocked Fredericksburg 15-11 to capture an important district win and knock off the rival Billies at 3-2.

Laney Hennesse led the team with 13 kills while Mariah McCoy led the team in blocks with three throughout the match.

Jesse Weeks led the team in both aces and assists with five and 29 while Maddy Harris led the team in digs with 25.

The win was followed by the non-district game of the season as the Texans traveled to Cedar Creek High School to take on the Eagles.

It was a dominating win as Wimberley won 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-11) Hennessee led the team in kills and with nine and 14 each while Emily Thames and Mc-Coy held the net with one block each.

Rhagen Masur led the team in aces with six while Jesse Weeks led the team in assists with 21.

Up next for the Texans is a road trip to Davenport in a huge district showdown on Sept. 13 with game time coming before press release.
