Oldies Burgers looks to the stars

“We sell a ton of Mushroom and Swiss Burgers, I mean a ton,” says Tracy. “And of course, our Dan Burger, which is the double meat, grilled onions, grilled jalapenos, bacon, cheese … you know, the whole shebang.”

Tracy, with her sister and co-owner Liz Jones, started Oldies in 2019, and opened the current location, 411 FM 2325, in June 2021. And they were Night Sky Friendly from the get-go.

The parking lot has completely down-pointing lighting. The open-sided structure is adorned with low-power string lights, under the roof. “And we don’t have any neon up, anything like that,” Tracy adds.

That considerate approach earned Oldies Burgers & More the Night Sky Friendly Business Award sponsored by the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce, endorsed by the Hill Country Alliance and awarded by the Wimberley Valley Dark Sky Committee.

No one had to tell Tracy that was important in Wimberley.

“We just wanted to contribute to the community,” she says. “To the way of life in Wimberley.”
