Sometimes, hard work and dedication pays off. Despite having just five members and restarting the program after a two year hiatus, the Wimberley High School Texan Stars will have the opportunity to perform at the world famous 2022 Thanksgiving Macy’s Day Parade.
Captain Lynzee Walker, Lieutenant Saraya Manning, Sarai Herrera, Dylan Steele, and Addyson Hoffman, who are all a part of this year’s 2022-2023 Texan Stars dance team, were all invited to perform at the parade in New York after qualifying at a dance camp three months ago.
“After working hard at the Showmakers of America Dance Camp in June, the dancers of the Texan Stars all auditioned individually for a chance to perform at the 2022 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade,” a press release from the Texan Stars said. “All five dancers did amazing and were invited to perform in New York City this November for the parade.”
All that’s left for the five dancers, as well as directors Lowery Walker and Sheridan Roalson, is to raise funds for their trip and stay.
“These dancers and directors are trying to raise money to go to New York and take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity,” the Texan Stars said. “Any support from their community would be greatly appreciated as they perform for the whole country while representing our wonderful small town of Wimberley, Texas.”
As of now, the Texan Stars have raised over $2,000 with the goal of reaching $10,000 by the end of the week.
