After 33 years of wear and tear, the Wimberley Thrift Shoppe received a facelift and is now back in operations.
The Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities, Inc. was formed in 1989 with the vision, originally led by M.F. Jonson, to use the revenue generated by the Thrift Shoppe to fill a need in the community.
The funds would support WSCAI and the Wimberley Senior Center.
The revenue was used to build what we now know as the Wimberley Community Center and Senior Center.
And the Thrift Shoppe continues to support the outreach programs of WSCAI. Through the years the organization has grown and supports several senior programs, including the Senior Citizen’s Activity Center, Circles of Friends, Wimberley on Wheels and access to other senior resources. These programs operate solely on funds raised through the Thrift Shoppe and donations from the community.
After 33-years of aging, the buildings where the Thrift Shoppe has operated needed significant repair, which have now been completed.
Members of the WSCAI board, the management team and volunteers of the Thrift Shoppe will welcome the public to an open house on Sunday, July 17, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., to celebrate the grand opening of the Wimberley Thrift Shoppe at 14050 Ranch Road 12.
The open house is intended to thank the generous donors and introduce the public to the new renovations.
The shop is also an asset to the Wimberley community as there are bargains for the bargain hunter, clothes for the family, items at deep discounts and bi-weekly auction items. Through generous donations and purchases the Wimberley Thrift Shoppe revenue provides most of the funding needed to run the outreach programs of WSCAI and the Wimberley Senior Center.
The Wimberley Thrift Shoppe is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations are accepted until 3 p.m.

Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities Center
The WSCAC offesr a variety of fun and educational programs for Wimberley Valley residents ages 55+including a spacious game room with tables for cards, mahjong, dominoes and meetings as well as an attached kitchen with coffee bar and refreshments. The cozy Fireplace Living Room is available for small meetings, games and group activities
Circles of Friends
Wimberley Senior Citizens Activities Inc. has a program for clients with moderate memory loss. The group meets at the Community Center every Thursday from 10 am-2 pm. The program provides an enriched curriculum for our "friends" and a respite for their family caregiver. Activities include art, crafts, movement, music, exercises suited for 55 years of age. The “friends” who join us each week also enjoy visiting with one another and hearing stories from our volunteers.

Rides are available for grocery shopping in both Wimberley and San Marcos Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
