The annual Fourth of July parade in Wimberley, also known as the Best Little Parade in Texas, is back in full form this Monday for the celebration of America’s birth.
For Michaelanne Hurst, the executive director of the Wimberley Chamber of Commerce, the parade is expected to be one of its biggest yet.
“We are super excited to have this parade, because when COVID hit the only thing we could do was have a drive through parade in 2020,” Michaelanne Hurst said. “It was a band-aid to help celebrate the birth of our nation. In 2021, people really did show up and were very excited. But this year, people are super excited and building these elaborate floats. We are a week out, and we have just as many entries out as we did last year. It’s probably going to be the biggest parade in Wimberley in a very long time.”
The parade will be followed by a jubilee celebration, which will allow guests to enjoy the festivities, food, live music and games will be present.
“This will allow people to continue to celebrate, eat, and have some water,” Hurst said. “It’s just a lot of fun so we are bringing this back this year. It’s not going to be as big as it has been in the past, but we are starting small so we can continue to grow that.”
The parade is set to start with staging as far back as Texan Boulevard before ending at Wimberley City Hall at the South River Business Park. The Jubilee celebration will be taking place at Ozona Bank.
