Planning for the annual Independence Day rodeo is a year-round job, and the 2022 VFW and VFW Auxiliary rodeo committee is putting the finishing touches on this year’s big event.
Almost as soon as the lights had dimmed on the last performance of the 2021 rodeo, the committee comprising members from both VFW Post 6441 and its Auxiliary began work on the next one. Sifting through “lessons learned” of what went right and what might need to be improved, the group put together its plans.
The 76th edition of the annual VFW Rodeo will be on the evenings of July 1, 2 and 3. Two of the changes from last year involve ticket purchases and fireworks.
For the first time, rodeo tickets will be available online. Starting June 1, the public can purchase tickets online for $12 for adults and $7 for children (prices at the rodeo will be $15 and $10). Online tickets will be available until June 25. Tickets will be available at the new Post 6441 website www.vfw6441.com. The website also contains up-to-date rodeo information.
This year, a fireworks display is planned as a grand finale to the rodeo following the Sunday night performance. Rather than divide its fireworks among all three nights of the rodeo, the committee decided to put the entire supply into one large show. Of course, all fireworks plans are tentative depending on the danger of wildfires.
