The cover of life by R. T. Robinson has been extended an additional weekend for May 27, 28 and 29. Tood, Weetsie, and Sybil are all brides in rural Louisiana in 1943. Each married a Cliffert brother. The men are off to war and a local news story about these young wives keeping the home fires burning intrigues Henry Luce.

Dog Training 101

Sarah Bond will host Dog Training 101 at the Wimberley Village Library on May 25 at noon. Learn the basics using effective, force-free, reward-based methods.

Dwain York Retirement Celebration

A retirement celebration will be held for Wimberley ISD Superintendent Dwain York on May 26 at The Waters Point at 6 p.m. There will be music by Lance Lipinsky.

Jurassic Park at Blue Hole

Come step back in time and celebrate the upcoming swim season with a free showing of Jurassic Park on the Friday before Memorial Day May 27! Hands-on activities will be provided by the Austin Paleontological Society and the University of Texas Jackson School Museum of Earth History. Take a photo with a near exact model Jurassic Park vehicle and learn all about the wonderful world of dinosaurs. Free swimming starts at 7 PM and the movie starts at 8 PM! This is a free event and does not require reservations!

Summer Reading Program Kick Off

The Wimberley Village Library is hosting an event to celebrate the start of the Summer Reading Program, which is back in person. Musician Joe McDermott will be on hand. The event is June 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Dedication of “Bloom” sculpture at EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens

The sculpture “Bloom” will be dedicated at EmilyAnn Theatre and Gradens on Wednesday, June 2, at 9:30 a.m. This sculpture was generously donated by the sculptor, Angela Mia De la Vega, and WVACA members, Pitzer’s Fine Arts and Pamela Rudd.

Pops “LOL” Concert Series by Starlight Symphony Orchestra

Startlight Symphony Orchestra will host the June Pops “LOL” Concert Series. The concert was designed with the sole purpose to make you laugh. Friday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at Wimberley Valley Winery. Bring your own chair or blanket. Food and wine are available for purchase. Saturday, June 4 at 4 p.m. at the Wimberley First Baptist Church.

Wimberley Players Summer Movies at the Playhouse

The Wimberley Players will host a summer movie series at the Wimberley Playhouse. Movies will be shown outside. Concessions include popcorn, soft drinks, candy, coffee, beer and wine. The movie Up will be shown on June 4, Moulin Rouge on June 17 and Princess Bride on June 18. Movies start at 8:30 p.m.

Katherine Anne Porter School Open House

The Katherine Anne Porter School will host an open house on June 24 and 25 or you can schedule an in person tour at KAPSchool.org.

RECURRING EVENTS Calling All Singers

Come join us as the Wimberley Community Chorus prepares to sing in the annual 4th of July Patriotic Concert with the Hill Country Community Band! Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, May 31st at 6:30 p.m. at Chapel in the Hills, Avey Hall, located at 14601 Ranch Road 12, Wimberley. All subsequent rehearsals will be held on Monday evenings in June, 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. All singers, please pre-register online at www.wimberleycommunitychorus.org. We strongly suggest all singers be vaccinated/boosted for Covid-19. Please bring proof of vaccinations to the first rehearsal. Masks will be optional while singing. Wimberley Valley Museum

There are new hours for the Winters-Wimberley House/Wimberley Valley Museum. It will be open on the first weekend of month (Market Days Weekend) with docents Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. starting June 4 and 5.

Adult Craft LAB with Wimberley Library

Adult Craft LAB is a year-round tinker and craft program for adults 18+. Classes are held virtually via Zoom. Class times: Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Class limit of 10 on a fist come, first-served basis. Supply kits are free and included with each class. Supply kits are available inside the library in the craft area Monday-Wednesday 1-6.

EASE Chair Exercises
