This Saturday is Armed Forces Day, and Wimberley’s VFW Post 6441 is celebrating by hosting an open house for all service members, veterans and their families.
A free barbecue lunch is included for all those serving now in the military or those who have served along with their families. The open house celebration is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the VFW, 401 Jacobs Well Road. Representatives from veterans’ service and assistance organizations will be on hand to assist with veterans’ programs.
Armed Forces Day is a special holiday for people all over the world to come together and thank the men and women of the United States armed forces. It is celebrated on the third Saturday of May, often with parades, open house, receptions and air shows. It is entirely appropriate to wish service members and veterans, “Happy Armed Forces Day.”
